Hard to believe that I haven't posted in 3 weeks!! My how time flies!
My "haze" is from a mind-numbing cold, and pink eye!! Nice!! Had to burn a sick day with the pink eye, just to get to the doc...grrrr. It is getting better, but the cold is getting worse, and now Sierra seems to have gotten it as well. Pesky germs!! Jimmy has been sick since 12/26 (2008), with coughing, wheezing, etc...poor thing. The VA healthcare "system" is not the best. The goal is to get him divorced (finally), so that we can file for Domestic Partnership, and he can get the insurance I have.
My class is now 19, and I got another boy who can't seem to sit still in class, and causes trouble on the playground! And the one little boy who has had mental trouble since the beginning, is now in full-blown ED mode...so sad. Two of my boys have PARD packets filed, and will hopefully soon have ADHD meds that will help them (and me, and the rest of the class) focus on our work. My little girl who is so, so far behind the others, has parents who don't seem to understand the severity of her situation, and keep her out of school for insane reasons...so frustrating! So, basically, more than 25% of my class has some serious issues, and another 30% with smaller problems, yet still keeping them from seeing their own full potential, and the other 45% who are just trying to get noticed, and struggling with their work most every day.
We watched the historic inauguration of Barack Obama in our class, and I hope the kids remember that day for a long time...I know I will. I was so prooud of him, and his family, and the millions of people who braved the D.C. cold to stand a be a part of history!!
